Diabetes Awareness Week UK 2025: Let’s Talk Health Checks (And Make Them Cute)

Diabetes Awareness Week UK 2025: Let’s Talk Health Checks (And Make Them Cute)

Diabetes Awareness Week UK is here, running from 9–15 June 2025, and we’re diving into a theme: Health Checks.

Brought to you by Diabetes UK, this week is about empowering our community to stay on top of their health while raising awareness of the checks and care we all deserve.

And let’s be honest, if we’re doing all these checks, we might as well look good doing them, right?

The 2025 theme is simple but powerful: Health Checks.

It’s about making sure we’re:

 • Getting our annual diabetes review
 • Having those essential eye, foot, and kidney checks
 • Feeling confident to ask for what we need in appointments
 • Understanding what our results mean and when to push for more support

Diabetes UK is encouraging everyone to talk more openly about the importance of routine checks, not just the finger pricks and sensor scans we do daily, but the bigger picture stuff that keeps us thriving long-term. Check out their full breakdown here: Diabetes UK – Diabetes Week

📜 A Little History
Diabetes Awareness Week has been running since 1994, and every June, it brings our community together to educate, advocate, and shout about the realities of diabetes. Whether you’re T1D, T2D, MODY, LADA or another type, this week is about being seen, heard and understood.

Let’s Talk Accessories With Purpose

💬 Why This Week Matters
Health checks can be intimidating. Some of us avoid them, some of us feel judged during them, and some of us don’t even know what we should be getting. That’s why this week is so important. We’re turning the spotlight on education, empowerment, and visibility.

Whether you’re due a check-up, need to ask more questions at your next review, or just want to remind someone that they deserve proper care, this week is for you.

🎯 How You Can Join In

  • Wear your awareness and tag us in your pics @organisingchaos.shop
  • Share your experience and what you wish more people knew about diabetes
  • Start the convo whether online, in your workplace, at school, or even in your GP surgery
  • Support Diabetes UK find events and ways to get involved here

Health checks aren’t glamorous. But they’re essential. This Diabetes Awareness Week, let’s change the narrative. Let’s make care something we feel confident asking for. Let’s start conversations with enamel pins, raise eyebrows with floral circles, and remind our community (and ourselves) that diabetes is as mental as it is physical and we are so worthy of good care.

You’ve got this, diabuddy. 💙
