How to Apply Your Patch

Let's get Stuck in...

Skin preparation is key when it comes to helping your patch stay secure for longer. We always recommend cleaning the area first with an alcohol swab or wipe, as this helps remove oils and dirt while slightly dehydrating the skin to improve adhesion. You can also use a skin barrier spray or wipe to help protect sensitive skin, while products like Skin Tac add an extra layer of stickiness for even stronger hold.

1. Timing is Key: Try not to apply your patch straight after or just before a shower or bath. Give your skin at least an hour to fully cool and dry, as warm or damp skin can affect adhesion.

2. Wash Your Hands: Clean hands mean less chance of introducing any dirt or oils that could affect the patch's adhesive.

3. Clean the Area: Use alcohol wipes to clean the area where you’ll apply your patch, ensuring it’s free from oils or lotions.

4. Dry is Best: Make sure the area is completely dry before applying your patch.

5. Skin Barrier: If you’re using adhesive or skin barrier wipes like Skin Tac, apply them to the area where you want to place your device and patch.

6. Patch Application: Begin by gently lifting the edge of the backing paper and peeling part of it away, folding it back on itself. Carefully align the patch around your device and press the exposed section onto the skin. Once you’re happy with the placement, slowly peel away the remaining backing while smoothing the patch down as you go. Finish by firmly pressing around all edges to help secure the adhesive.

How to Care For Your Patch

Dry It Off: If your sensor and patch get wet, dab them dry gently.

Hands Off the Adhesive: Try to avoid touching the adhesive when applying or wearing your patch, as this could shorten its wear time.

Re-Stick or Trim: If the edges start lifting, use a skin tac wipe to re-stick them or carefully trim any loose edges.

No Long Dips: Avoid wearing the patch underwater for extended periods.

Skip the Creams: Don’t apply creams or lotions near your device area before or after applying the patch, as they may cause it to lift.

How to Safely Remove Your Patch

Everyone talks about how to keep their diabetic device patches on, but removing them isn't talked about nearly enough.

Our patches are designed to stay secure through everyday life, which means they use a strong adhesive to help keep your sensor or pump protected. While that's great for wear time, it also means you may need a little help when it's time to remove your patch.

Rather than ripping the patch straight off, we recommend softening the adhesive first. This helps protect your skin and makes removal much more comfortable.

You can use:

* Adhesive remover sprays or wipes
* Baby oil
* Bio-Oil
* Other skin-safe oils recommended for adhesive removal

Simply apply the product around the edges of the patch and allow it to soak into the adhesive for a few minutes. Slowly peel the patch back, adding more remover if needed.

Taking a little extra time during removal can help prevent irritation, redness and skin damage, especially if you wear devices continuously or have sensitive skin.

Your patch should come off , not your skin.

What are the Patches made from

Our patches are made from hypo-allergenic medical-grade adhesive tape with a thick backing ensuring a gentle and secure fit for most skin types. The designs are printed using high-quality ink to provide vibrant and long-lasting colours. However, as everyone’s skin is unique, the adhesive may stick better to some skin types than others. We recommend trying our free patch skin test to see how they work for you

Can I return a Patch

Due to the nature of the product, our patches are non-refundable and cannot be returned for hygiene reasons. We recommend trying one of our skin patch tests first to see how it works for you. If you have any issues with the adhesive, using a skin barrier wipe/spray may help improve the stickiness and extend wear time.
