A Surgery Date at Last: Excited, Terrified, and Ready for Change

If you read my last post, you’ll know things have been… intense. Between grief, pain, diabetes, and running a small business, I’ve felt like life has been in “pause mode” for far too long. But finally, after what feels like forever, I’ve got a date for surgery.

I won’t sugar-coat it (pun always intended), I’m equal parts excited and terrified. Excited, because I am so ready to stop living in this constant state of pain and discomfort. Terrified, because surgery is scary, no matter how many times you do it. And this will be my fourth in the last 18 months. You’d think I’d be a pro by now, but it never gets easier.

Right now, I’m in full-on prep mode. Not just for myself and my diabetes management (which always adds an extra layer of complexity to hospital stays), but for Organising Chaos too. I want to make sure everything keeps ticking along while I take some time to heal. And don't worry Rahul will be here in my absence dispatching your orders.

If I’m honest, OC has taken its fair share of knocks this year. My health has been a constant hurdle. Then there’s EU regulations making it impossible to affordably ship there, US customs charging on literally everything, social media platforms changing their rules every five minutes, the cost of living crisis, and ongoing supplier issues. Some days, it feels like one step forward, a thousand steps back.

But here’s the thing, I refuse to give up. This business was born out of my own journey with type one diabetes, and it’s carried me (and hopefully some of you) through some really tough moments. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it. I’ll be sharing more about how I manage my diabetes during surgery over in OC Club Hub, because that’s the space where I can really open up and know that I’m speaking to people who get it. If you’re not already part of the club, maybe now’s the time to join. For now, I’m holding onto the hope that surgery brings me relief, recovery, and a bit more of “me” back. Here’s to better days ahead.

If you do place an order, it would mean the absolute world if you could spread the word by sharing your snaps or videos on social media. It helps so much while I’m in recovery, and it’s the perfect way to show off your cute OC bits. Plus, I’ll be launching an OC Creator Search soon, and I’ll be picking diabuddies who already support Organising Chaos, so now’s the perfect time to showcase your style and support.

So, that’s where I’m at. Surgery date secured, prep mode in full swing, and a whole mix of emotions bubbling away. I’ll be sharing more personal updates both here on the blog and, more in-depth, over in the exclusive OC Club Hub Blog in a new series I’m calling Behind the Chaos.

Think of it as a peek behind the curtain, the real life stuff that doesn’t always make it onto the shiny side of social media. The highs, the lows, and everything in between.
