5 Tips for Stylish and Secure CGM Wear: Keep Your Device Stuck Down with Ease!

Let's talk about one of those pesky little things we all deal with: keeping our CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor) stuck down. I know the struggle all too well - there's nothing worse than your device coming loose at the most inconvenient time. But fear not, because I've got you covered with some handy tips to keep your CGM secure and snug all day long!

Ensure Proper Skin Preparation and Avoid Creams/Lotions: Before applying your CGM, it's crucial to properly prep your skin to ensure maximum adhesion. One tip that has worked wonders for me is using two alcohol antibacterial wipes to thoroughly clean and dehydrate the skin. This helps to remove any oils or residue that could interfere with the adhesive, giving your CGM a better surface to stick to. Additionally, avoid applying any creams or lotions to or near the device area before or after applying, as this may cause the patch to lift. By following these steps, you can ensure that your CGM stays securely in place throughout the day, giving you peace of mind and allowing you to focus on what matters most.

Invest in a Skin Barrier: If you find that your CGM tends to peel off easily, especially in sweaty or humid conditions, consider using a skin barrier like Skin Tac. This handy solution creates a protective layer between your skin and the adhesive, helping your CGM stick better and stay put for longer periods. Simply apply a thin layer of Skin Tac to the skin before attaching your device for an extra boost of adhesion. You can check out some of my favourites here.

Try Easy-to-Apply Device Patches: Now, here's where things get exciting! Say goodbye to boring, plain device patches and hello to style and functionality combined. I've teamed up with StyleHypeUK to offer the easiest-to-apply diabetic device patches on the market. These patches not only simplify your application process but also add a touch of personal flair to your CGM. Plus, they're available for popular devices like Dexcom, Freestyle Libre, and Medtronic, so you can customise your look no matter which CGM you use. Made from breathable, hypoallergenic materials, these patches are gentle on the skin and reduce the risk of irritation or discomfort. With our easy-to-apply patches, you can go about your day with peace of mind, knowing that your CGM is secure and comfortable.

Layer Up Patches: One tip that really works wonders for me is using a clear adhesive patch underneath my decorative patch for that extra layer of security. The clear patches that come free from Dexcom are perfect for this. They kind of act as a second skin and create a strong foundation for the decorative patch to stick giving double to security.

So there you have it, a few tips to keep your CGM stuck down and secure. With the right prep, a little extra help from skin barriers, and some stylish device patches, you can say goodbye to worries about your CGM coming loose and focus on living your best life with diabetes. Stay stylish, stay secure, and keep rocking that CGM!
