Diabetes Skincare Update: Embracing Change for Healing

Diabetes Skincare Update: Embracing Change for Healing

Today, I'm opening up about a significant shift in my diabetes skincare routine – one that's all about embracing change and prioritising healing. So, grab a cozy spot and let's dive into this journey together!

Why the Change?

Let's talk about the elephant in the room – scarring. As much as I love my stomach and it has become my new go-to site for my diabetic devices, the scarring has become a real concern. With every site removal, I found myself starting the healing process from scratch, and it was taking a toll on my skin's health and appearance. That's when I knew it was time to make a change and put my skincare routine to the test.

The New Approach

I've made the decision to stop using my stomach as a device site for a while. And I'm excited to see how effective my skincare routine truly is when not constantly battling site removal scars. This shift allows me to focus on healing and nurturing my skin without the constant cycle of damage and repair.

Banishing Bruises with Arnica Cream

One silver lining in this journey has been the discovery of Arnica Cream. This magical cream has been a game-changer in tackling site bruising. Not only did it visibly reduce bruising, but it also sped up the healing process, providing much-needed relief and comfort.

Tea Tree Cream vs. Sudocrem

In my quest for a more natural alternative to Sudocrem, I decided to give Tea Tree Cream a try, recommended by fellow diabuddies. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. Not only did it leave me feeling itchy, but it also irritated some of my sites. Lesson learned – sometimes, sticking with tried-and-true products is the way to go. But that's not to say that it isn't the right product for you. It’s all about trial and error!

Final Thoughts

This journey is all about prioritising self-care and finding what works best for me. While the decision to stop using my stomach as a device site may seem daunting as it's become a comfort spot (I am a creature of habit), I'm confident that it's a step in the right direction towards healthier, happier skin. And hey, if there's one thing I've learned along the way, it's that embracing change is key to growth. Check out my Diabetes Skincare Routine Here!

So here's to embracing change, prioritising healing, and continuing this journey with optimism and resilience.
